Armstrong Ambulance Names Gale Armstrong Brady as Chairman and President, and Richard Raymond as Chief Executive Officer

Arlington, MA (June 2, 2014) – Armstrong Ambulance Service Inc., which has served Arlington and surrounding communities for nearly seven decades, today announced that its Board of Directors has appointed Gale Armstrong Brady as Chairman and President, and Richard Raymond as Chief Executive Officer.

Ms. Armstrong Brady succeeds her late father, William F. Armstrong, Jr., in leading the company that he founded in their family home in 1946. Ms. Armstrong Brady got her start as a child who helped to answer the phone when transport requests would come in. As an adult, after working several years in another healthcare role, she was asked by her father to join Armstrong Ambulance to help him fulfill his vision of a full-service ambulance company that would set the standard for pre-hospital patient care. She has dedicated the past 28 years to that mission, managing the financial, human resource and other business functions of the organization as it expanded to a fleet of more than 100 vehicles and over 300 employees operating out of the Arlington headquarters and eight field locations.

“My father was always loyal to his beliefs: have compassion for patients and employees, provide the best equipment so that people can perform their jobs well, and be supportive of our communities and partners,” Ms. Armstrong Brady said. “I am committed to continuing his high standards for emergency medical care, and finding ways to apply those standards by creating new opportunities within the industry.”

The new CEO, Richard Raymond, is a certified paramedic who has dedicated his 20-plus year career to emergency medical services (EMS) as both a field provider and an administrator. Mr. Raymond joined Armstrong Ambulance in 2007 as Director of Strategic Development to support the company’s relationships with municipalities. He was soon promoted to Chief Operating Officer – a position that he has held for five years. The breadth of his experience provides him with a deep understanding of EMS at all levels of the system, from serving the patients in the community; to partnering with the leaders of hospitals, skilled nursing facilities and municipalities; to providing high-quality, cost-effective care in an ever-changing, and often challenging, healthcare services environment. Additionally, Mr. Raymond is frequently sought out as a speaker at both national and international EMS conferences, recently returning from a speaking engagement in Spain.

“My experience in multiple roles has given me a unique understanding of how decisions affect all facets of the system, ranging from patients to providers. I am constantly processing the cause and effect of decision making in order to form successful partnerships with the people I work alongside with at Armstrong Ambulance, as well as at the hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, municipalities and all members of what is ultimately our public health system,” Mr. Raymond said. “It is our dedication to these strong internal and external partnerships that is the basis of Armstrong Ambulance’s success and what will continue to position us as a leader in the EMS industry.”

In addition to being named CEO, Mr. Raymond was also elected to Armstrong Ambulance’s Board of Directors.
