Emergency Medical Dispatch

The first step in an emergency response is calling for help and Armstrong will always answer that call.

Our Emergency Medical Dispatchers are highly skilled and prepared to face whatever the next call brings. Our team coordinates and dispatches the appropriate vehicle and clinicians to respond to the emergency at hand. While help is on the way, our dispatchers relay pre-arrival care instructions and give support to the caller in order to yield the best patient outcome.

Our Emergency Medical Dispatchers will handle all ranges of emergencies from slips and falls, to cardiac arrests, deliveries of babies, motor vehicle accidents, water rescues, and mass casualties, to name a few. They are the “First, First Responders” and start the chain of care 24/7/365 whenever someone needs medical assistance. Critical thinking and extensive training are on duty whenever they are.

At Armstrong Ambulance, we uphold the highest standards in our training requirements for Emergency Medical Dispatchers. In order to fulfill these requirements, individuals must successfully complete the International Academy of Emergency Dispatch EMD course (Priority Dispatch) and its final exam, obtain certification in FEMA’s ICS 100 and IS 700 training, and successfully complete the Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO) Telecommunication 1 course. Furthermore, passing the State of Massachusetts written and practical EMD exams are required for EMD certification.

Armstrong also performs Emergency Medical Dispatching for 10 communities outside of our geography, sharing life-saving skills throughout Massachusetts.
